Philosophy: Sustainability

The Cabin Fever Interior design philosophy and business approach are driven by our commitment to socially and environmentally responsible design. We believe that people vote for or against the planet with every purchase. Recognizing our own decisions and actions make a difference, we also believe it is important to help our clients make informed decisions about materials and products being used in a design. These decisions can range from the choice of indigenous wood from sustainably managed forests, locally sourced products and those with a recycled content, to designing an energy efficient lighting scheme and using non-off gassing finishes, materials and organic fabrics. The company mandate is that where possible, materials are sourced from local manufacturers to reduce carbon emissions. As an added measure, we seek out those companies who share our commitment to sustainable operations. We believe that materials should be made with a ‘cradle-to-cradle lifespan; and try to use materials that have recycled content or that can have a second life or can be up-cycled in the future.
